Knights #1

Here comes some groupe pictures of my Crusading Knights so far. I´m working at some more ledung infatry at the moment and then there will be one group of Knights more.

My first goal with this Crusader force are to get enought minis to be able to migrate the Dux Britanniarum rules to a Swedish Baltic Crusade setting.

The force composition are planed to be:
1x Commander (Bishop with Bannermen/Champion), 2 minis
2x Sub-Commanders (Mounted/Dismounted Knights), 2 minis
2x Knights (Elit Heavy Cavalry), 2x4 minis
3x Ledung Infantry (Warriors with a few integrated missle troops i.e 2 dice of shooting), 3x6 minis
1x Missile troops (Ledung archers/crossbow or Suomi tribal hunters...), 1x4 minis

The forces so far...

  2. Dux Brit seems like a great way to start an army. Just waiting for the Postman for delivery some new toys to do the Age of Arthur thing here in Aarhus ;-)

  5. What a brilliant unit, the base is excellent, the painting style is very effective, really great stuff, the only thing I would change is the material used for the flags, the threads and thickness look out of scale, however the flags are really nicely painted, so it makes up for that small thing, well done.

  13. Thanks Mates !

The painting style are some thing I started to use for my 15mm minis, but eventually for my 28mm aswell, and it´s realy like you say, its painted fot the table-top, not for close-up judgement like in the photos, but with out the photos not much to show on the blog or here. Regarding the fabric in the banners, it´s realy quite thick as you say, but i tryed to use finer cloth and I realy didn´t get the structure as I wanted, was almost like painting on paper, might have used to thick paint, but it´s how I use to paint, so for now the banners will be made of this clofh but I will continue my quest for the best material, I hope you all cope meanwhile ;)

No Novgorod in sight so far, but I use to paint up both sides for all my projects any way, don´t want to rely on some one else. For a start I will use my Viking/Saxons as Tavastian, Karelians and Ests but work my way to a Novgorod force to.

So no Lithuanians, Poles, Slavs or Prussians only Finno-Ugrians and Novgorodians for me, as the others are established to south :)

    Best regards Michael
